Wavelength the only medical recruitment company to make the 2013 BRW Top 50 Great Places To Work

Wavelength the only medical recruitment company to make the 2013 BRW Top 50 Great Places To Work

179 companies competed in this year’s BRW Great Place To Work Awards and almost 26,000 employees were independently surveyed and asked to rate their employers across a range of criteria. Wavelength International is one of only 3 staffing and recruitment companies, and the only specialist medical recruitment company to make the grade this year.

Claire Ponsford, Director, reflects on Wavelength’s ranking this year and what you can expect when you join the team.

"We put ourselves up for scrutiny again this year. Happily. To compete against the best Australia has to offer in the BRW’s Top 50 Great Places to Work Awards is an opportunity to showcase our values to the nation.

Being the only medical recruitment company to make the list this year is special. Being independently acknowledged as a Top 50 Great Place To Work, among a group of truly amazing companies is confirmation that leading a group of highly talented individuals in a way that provides them with the freedom and ability to take action and provide the best service they can, to our candidates and clients, is the only real way to build a winning team.

Australia, broadly, may have avoided the effects of the GFC, maintained low unemployment, high wages and relative productivity, but it was only last month that the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) warned about Australia’s post-boom outlook. The “genuine issues” that Professor Stephen Martin mentions is something that I think most astute Australian business owners should be thinking about – “relooking at labour flexibility and innovative management practices” – definitely on the agenda at Wavelength.

23% of our employees choose to work part-time. All employees can work one day per week from home and save themselves some commuting time, or attend their child’s school assembly. In terms of management practices, employees are empowered at Wavelength – if something can work better or differently no one waits for their manager to see it and delegate it – we expect employees to be proactive and we give them the freedom to take action.

At Wavelength we spend our days focused on delivering ethical medical recruitment services, creating value, and providing the best possible service to our candidates and clients. This continues to serve us well.

As a leader I think it’s important to focus on clearly laying out the vision so that our team can take an active role in creating value, regardless of what area of the business they’re in. We serve hundreds of hospitals and General Practices, and represent the best medical practitioners, across Australia and New Zealand, and when you join a company like Wavelength you can expect to play a lead role in the delivery of this important societal need."
